Joseph Luciano began his judo training in 1998 in Dayton, OH. He was a member of the Epizoundes judo club under the instruction of retired command sergeant major John Powell (aka Sensei Powell). He attended numerous tournaments, served as an assistant instructor and helped with fundraisers and events for the club.

 

In 2001 he joined the United States Army and in 2005 moved to Florida. In Florida Joseph shifted his focus to teaching judo to kids where he started several after school programs. He met and began training with Sensei Ronald Chapman with Chikarakogeki judo club in 2019.

 

Joseph is currently serving there as an assistant instructor after having taken several years off due to the pandemic.
